DailyCandy Newsletter Sold For $125,000,000.00

1 email list + 1 site = a lot of money I guess…

Considering that Comcast just bought a daily newsletter about girl stuff for $125 million in cash, I think there may be a future to this email marketing thing.

DailyCandy’s business model is basically a blog/e-mail list combo that makes $25 million a year in revenue. Talk about utilizing the KISS method to a tee.

All you need to create a business like this is 1 domain($9/year), 1 hosting account(about $10/month) and Aweber($19/month). If you can’t write then of course you would need to hire some writers which are easy to get on Craigslist, career builder etc.

One thing to remember is that it’s not really the website itself that’s worth $125 million but rather dailycandy’s email list consisting of over 2.5 million subscribers.

I just realized that comes out to about $50 per email address. Wow!

Are we starting to see the potential of having an email list?
